Our Mission
Our mission is to prepare students to become productive, compassionate and valuable members of our multicultural society. We seek to develop in our students a life-long love for learning and to foster and enhance their creativity. We will continue to have all students performing at or above grade level in all subject areas by providing a supportive staff and an environment conducive to learning.P.S. 282, located in Park Slope, Brooklyn, serves approximately 730 children in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 5. Our school incorporates the Teachers College Workshop Model and Everyday Mathematics into the curriculum. P.S. 282 offers a Gifted and Talented class - academic enrichment - on each grade, kindergarten through 5. All P.S. 282 students receive instruction in technology,physical education, music, library, art and science. In Science class, students explore physical and life science through inquiry-based investigations. Our beautiful Library and media center is open to all students and teachers for research. In the well-equipped Art room, children study a mixture of art history & studio art. Children have the opportunity to participate in jazz ensemble, string class, instrumental band and chorus, in addition to the general music program. Performances are scheduled throughout the year. We enthusiastically embrace involvement from the community at large.
